Sketchpad

Pastel outlines in a world of grey
Charcoals shade the depth away
Colors so often
Soften
The dampness of

Still-life stencil
Mannequin ashamed
Empty drizzle
Inanimate to the touch I bring

Pencils
Markers
Sticks and tools
A myriad of variance
I delve into
Sharpening what might be
Hope is like the sketchpads opening remark
Never in-focus when you start
Gridlocked
Awaiting for the inciting spark

  1. I played with pastels for the first time ever yesterday! Your poem describes the feeling well. :)

  2. Rache, thanks for stopping by to visit and leaving a comment. Ilove playing around with pastels, charcoal sticks really anything I can use for drawing or painting. I'm not the greatest artist in the world but I find it just fun to play around with the medium. I'm thrilled to hear that you thought I conveyed the feeling of working with pastels aptly. Thanks so much and I'm glad you liked the piece:)
