Tenets Entombed

Sacred cows of Idol’s gold
Enslaved a people’s tide enrapt
Sparse seas amidst arid dry’s
Splits succumb to tenets denied

A mix, a flow, a blend of blood
A tryst, a glow, a shed of salt
A rinse, in tow, a defense of fear

Beliefs deflect tablets aside
A factions face denies belief
That some words written first
Have lost hold to the thirsts of men

Neath the crypts- scarabs run
Abandoning their bandages
Wrapped to flesh aligned to bone
Jars of promise lay beside
Those possessions most important to
The astral dreams foretell the awakening
Where lies once told are put to rest
This before they’re spoke again

  1. interesting...intentional or not there is some nice biblical allusion here to the story of the 10 commandments...the golden calf...and destruction of the first tablets...of course it could all just be egyptian as well...same time and all...dont know that i would want to be embalmed you know...i know i am dead, but pulling my brain through my nose just sounds balgh

  2. Brian, no totally put those biblical allusions in there intentionally, glad you picked up on them. The whole story around the tablets I always found very interesting, especially seeing cultist religious groups, namely Summum, have claimed to know what was on those tablets, and have built entire "religious" groups from them. Summum calls them the 7 aphorisms-Psychokinesis, Correspondence, Vibration, Opposition, Rhythm, Cause and Effect and Gender. I don't know, maybe it's just me, I find these fringe groups very interesting, as in the way they work, think, and justify themselves. Anyhow, long answer to short question, lol Glad you like the write. Thanks

  3. Agree with pulling my brain through my nose. But then I'm toast and always said use my ashes for kitty litter, so brain through nose can't be any worse..haha

Always fascinated by egyptian Gods and everything of the like, probably what added to my like of stargate. Great piece you really worked a ton in there.

  4. Thanks PAt, yeah you know I saw you mentioned Stargate before, I loved the movie, but for whatever reason I never got into the tv show, but from everyone I've heard talk about it, seem to have loved it. I tried a couple times but probably should give it another shot. Glad you liked this piece. Kitty litter ash lol

  5. 'Tenets' make me think of old teachings. There are many religions whose teachings and documents are lost in history, perhaps buried waiting to be found. They might once have been held close, something tested. One day they might resurface, perhaps we'll refind what we once knew, whatever that is. I don't know if we'll ever stop searching for meaning.
