Sagittarius

On A Dare:
A       Challenge commenced
 Bluest, tertiary
In moderate philosophy

Jupiter’s flames
         Purple, white
Instructed arrows
To take
                                    Flight
On a quest:
         For knowledge—of
Insatiable thirst—
         For questions
&
         Answers for.
Yet
                  Space
Must
Remain

Open

Without conformity

Blessed—with speakers’ tongue
Anointed—a thinkers’ mind
         And to share—
 You cherish
                  Each Revelation
Every charming line
         You set to life—
Now known
                                                                        And Free.

Always in-motion
Stimulated by the move
From the new to the new again
Even when settling in
         When settled down
You set forth
Your feet—
 Begin to thump—
 For
         Eager excursions—
 To absorb the sights therein

Sagittarius
Archer or
A Centaur to Tarot
 Quiver filled
With creation’s light
Bound to stir
 Imagination everywhere
 Gaining adoration
As
Apple fired into
Cored
From the
Shot
Between
Right Place, Right Time
Attracting fortune yet to come

Although friends flock
From angles wide
Even with a disposition of the sun
You, will, when asked
Speak the truth
Brutal, tactless
Charm

Although good tidings seek and find
You can grow overwhelmed
With optimism’s blinders
Securely on

Saddest sight this side of
To see a chalice
Drained
Wan
Burnt down
Charring
To-
Isolation’s love reclaim

Duality
Beast/man
Secrets
Dwell

Within
Rules
Bump
 Flesh
Upon skin

Yet, still

It’s your intellect
That drives you mad
As the regulations
You understand
As necessary
Means

But
Still despise
For all that
Calamity
Constriction breeds
Duality
Love
Jovial; free
Yet
So often
Found alone

In love with space
Free of hands
Tied to chore
Refusing your
Mind’s chance

to explore

Yet, when love
Catches spirit
All will be done
To secure
 Connection
Tight

Criticize—
They may—
For your
Compassion—
Seams
Of fray

Criticize—
They could-
For your
Honesty—
Can
Birth
Disarray

Criticize—
For your
Unforgiving
Aspects
Surround
Amongst
As
Moral code means the most
High Ethics hold no compromise
For honesty directed alone from/within
Your eyes
So, upon betrayal
Betray you shall
In turn

 Endless are the miles
As bow
Traverses wood
Sagittarius
Archer
Always hunting

Sagittarian
Bow
Forever
Needs to know

Three types twill thy rank
The most positive
The never quenched
The losing gambler…
… always landing on their feet

  1. Once again awesome job. Really like how you played with the archer and centuar remark. The losing gambler I never knew, although must be nice to lose and land on ones feet. But with four feet I guess it's a little easier haha. Like how you set the first up as sort of a stary night type deal too, with the words just splatted here and there.

  2. Here I find another magnificent zodiac poem from you. I admit I know only a little of astrology (I was born on a cusp as was my brother). However, I have extensively studied personality theory so I find these fascinating. The symbolism mixed in with the tension inherent within a defined psychological structure is making this series potent with possibility. First, the structure is wonderful, it adds to the tensive elements, the dual nature of the sign. You so well capture the twinning aspects. It all combines for powerful effect like the tension of the bow being drawn. Within the poem you create literal and figurative space, so important for the intellectual explorations of the sign. There are several places where this poem reaches Shakespearian proportions. Examples include: 'But/Still despise/For all that/Calamity/Constriction breed'; 'Blessed—with speakers’ tongue/Anointed—a thinkers’ mind'; 'Three types twill thy rank/The most positive/The never quenched'; 'Your eyes/So, upon betrayal/Betray you shall/In turn/Endless are the miles/As bow/Traverses wood'. This is really wonderful work Fred; I can't believe we'll be blessed with 10 more.

  3. Pat, thanks I appreciate that. Yeah, I've never seen a cat not land on all fours:) Actually, come to think of it, I believe I heard it's impossible...Hmm.

    Anna,

Thank you, really glad you're enjoying the series so far. Love your interpretations, really amazing to read. The Shakespearean comparison is beyond cool. Love that. Thanks again, really fun putting these together. They take a bit longer than most pieces because there's so much checking "facts" out, but still a whole lot of fun to do. I never really got too deep into astrology, but as with many things, I have always found it interesting, just really got into reading up on it all a little while back. Finally got the urge to compose a series about it. Again really glad you enjoyed it.

  4. The spacing and scatter of words emphasize the sign personality as one that cannot be bounded in, nor stay fixed in one place. "In love with space" indeed.

Truth is not one side. Such the words going left and right and the emphasis on the sign's honesty, leading me to a sort of off tangent thought -- I think truth doesn't take sides, and a person telling it like it all the time may seem to switch sides because he isn't on one side or the other -- when someone is wrong he just points it out be it friend or foe.

The centered lines with "criticize" -- the narrowness that these try to confine. The sign's own standards seems to burst out of the narrowness at the end there, and return, sprung away from it.

Really enjoyed reading this. I shall wait in anticipation for the next sign you will do. :)

  5. Raven, really like your interpretation a lot, some really amazing feedback. Love your idea about the centered lines. I believe Capricorn is next up, but head's not really on straight this morning so I'll have to look that up. Definitely has been a fun series so far. Thanks
