Interesting and apt simile... last line's 'elder stone' is particularly nice
I like this metaphor. Stones and monuments seem an appropriate objects, that they are released prematurely from an "elder stone" makes one think there is some impatience and roughness.
Time is just like that. You packed so much imagery into so few words. Those premature releases can be so painful, can't they?
