Fragment From A Masquerade

Red ribbons clutter the scene,
From lanai to balcony

Yet still,
I can see,
Even though,
I choose not to believe

Kabuki flags defile dreams of old,
Through the seams they politely latch onto,
All things lost and never seen

Yet…

     A dream so cold,
Needs only an ounce of fuel
To direct the oars of a future worth possessing

A Stormy Sea

A constantly stormy sea—
beset by clouds of
varying darkness of degree

Interminably, an obsidian tide
rushes forth, with it’s blinding
waves of rippling course

After our clouds have grown clear,
skyline’s tempest shifts to a scene,
where celestial rays inch their way,
out from beneath the shadow shroud

Once completely free from darks and grays,
a final splash of powder blue,
forever alters the color wheels pointed view,

But beneath the freshest of these coats serene,
a blush-stroked canvas often frays,
opening wounds that once were made—
and no longer can our painted cicatrices forever stall
the untethering of bruises buried deep

The Well-Wisher

Well-wishing and looking at the rippled lines
Vacancy’s and for sale signs
Can be seen as discouraging tombs
Or as opportunity to invest anew

Flies amass to stickiness
Sweet like candy, more or less
So, as you enjoy each treats bliss
Remember, that flies also swarm to…

Wink, wink, nod, nod
Poking your eyes out with the cattle prod
Electric bolts to spark you bright
On a fated windswept night

Oh, how the niceties in life
Can grow to be repulsive
And how the ugliest thoughts
Can become the prettiest

I’m closing my eyes and praying on a penny.
Believing upon splash comes the answers to my dreams aplenty
