The Hit

I can’t believe she put a hit out on me
After all I said, after all I’ve done

I can’t believe she took a hit out on me
They said it wasn’t personal,
It wasn’t what they were meant to do
But taxes aren’t free and times aren’t cheap
So just lie down and go to sleep

They said they’d make it fast
That I wouldn’t feel a thing
They said it would all be
Like nothing more than dream

I can’t believe she put a hit out on me
After all I did, after all I said
I thought I meant more
I thought I meant more to her

I can’t believe she took a hit out on me
They said it wasn’t personal,
They said I didn’t come cheap
Small tokens,
Small, small tokens to take

They were right
I wouldn’t feel a thing
This whole scenario’s
Numbed me deep

I can’t believe she put a hit out on me
After all I did, after all I would’ve done
I’d have thought
I’d have thought this
Would’ve been something I’d have done
Never though, did I think
That this she’d be capable of the such

I can’t believe she took a hit out on me
They said it wasn’t personal,
That all they needed was my heart
To which I stopped and laughed aloud…
As my heart had been broken long before
She ever took a hit out on me…

The Black Mask Of Love

Black mask on!
white’s aglow
familiar yet still unknown

black mask on!
scars concealed,
skin forever sealed from view

loving me is like suicide
slowly drains the life in you
loving me is like suicide
you’ll feel trapped; you’ll feel lost
and soon… there’ll be nothing left of you

Black mask on!
chamber’s spun
rotates until
the last shell’s won,
the end’s revealed

Black mask on!
slipping away
faceless seems like everyday
all that you’ve done, so little won
for a love grown stale, the mirror tells the truest tale

loving me is like suicide
you ignore the signs; you pray instead of run
loving me is like suicide
without knowing the how, where and when

Black mask on!
pressed to skin
asphyxiation
cutting deep within

Black mask on!
dreaming upon anything
preying upon everyone
wishing…for only all of this to end

loving me is like suicide
Mercury or heroine
tracts to arm
to fuel the spark
needed to let this love survive

Black mask on!
searching for
meanings that just aren’t there

loving me is like suicide
first you love and then you die
loving me is never right
only darkness, never light

Black mask on!
seeking high and searching for
locked doors you’ll never find

loving me is like suicide
craving deeply loves embrace
loving me is like suicide
in spite of knowing it all will be erased

Black mask on!

Ode to Metal

As vibrations shimmy up the leg
Laying claim to the chambers in my head
Resonate and Reverberate, the rise, the fall
A possession of the body, overtaking it all

Piercing thoughts escape this cage
Subliminal concept replacing sight
Urging violence, seeking fights
A forgotten shell consumed with rage

I hate metal
For how it makes me feel
Alive, awake
Cold as steel
I hate metal
Because it’s more real than real

A bass-line outlines my every step
A haunting rhythm with each breath
Today, tomorrow I’ll have no choice,
Despite the anger and the pain
There’s but one thing I can possibly do
And that’s Metal, I declare myself to you

I wrote this poem a few years ago, and to be perfectly honest, I'm beat.  I wrote a couple haikus earlier today and as pitiful as it might sound, It knocked me out.  Did some reading, some great poems over at the Dual-Themed Poetics tonight, but my fingers betray me, refusing to type, even know as I write this simple note.  So, that all said, i'll be back around to visit tomorrow, when hopefully this exhaustion will take it's leave.  After all, one can only sleep so much in a day right?  But enough of that.  Swing on over to D'Verse, where Brian and Gretchen are co-hosting.  I had this piece about music, which conveniently fit into Gretchen's theme, Brian's mad libs post is definitely something I'll try using, perhaps for tomorrow's post.  In any case, swing on by and get your fill on some excellent poetry.
