Crickets

Crickets crashing upon corroding biers
Softly swaying to coarse lit tears
Fireflies light the way
On this premature voyage to immortality

Sanity and sanctity
Positioned just so,
Focusing upon Inherent flaws bred through woe
Of man and man, of man and beast

Different tones play upon,
Each and all, the cords of voice

The quality in chosen words
The action becoming of the strangest verbs
Empathy comes at the oddest stops
Visions of visions shared once but lost

Yet crickets chirped
Just the same
Until, of course, the winter came

A Brief Allegory of the Sponge

Pandering takes a toll
It can be a cruel enemy
As limousines make their way to the curb of yours
Followed by the well dressed servant opening the door
Out, reemerge with sables and minks
The stench of town instantaneously shrank
Lemons and lavender permeates the air
A gold-chained watch is checked,
Indicating their arrival was premature
The closer they gate you watch their eyes
They stare at you and you realize
A game changing moment will soon come
Only to watch their soles from the opposite side
Like the sponge the panderer lives off of others
And also because,
Like the sponge
Most are unaware the sponge being alive
