No I don't hate the reference at all. Poetry is about evoking thoughts and images to the reader. Poetry can have infinite interpretations. Besides, although I didn't draw on these references when I wrote the piece, I've always loved the puff story as well as anything from the doctor. Hopefully they would be treated properly and could live amongst us in peace, but I doubt that scenario would bear true. But it would certainly be something to see wouldn't it? I also read a lot of fantasy novels when I was younger, remember those times fondly. Thanks for the comment and for the visit. I hope you won't hate it that I say this, but it reminds me of "Puff, The Magic Dragon", and the serpentine smile evokes the Grinch for me (I love those stories).

I am generally drawn in by the mystery of a creature that can only properly exist in a certain realm of time and space. You successfully create a real feeling of tension between the attraction to the mythical beast of yore, and the sad inevitability of being separate from him. I am glad today was a good day to write a dragon poem for you. I enjoyed it.Elaine Danforthhttp://elainedanforth.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/in-search-of-time-space-and-place-to-stand/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-930188128946500869.post-60125941217093907872011-06-30T21:58:20.829-04:002011-06-30T21:58:20.829-04:00very nice! loved the images portrayed here!very nice! loved the images portrayed here!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-930188128946500869.post-66155513873149632042011-06-30T21:35:18.269-04:002011-06-30T21:35:18.269-04:00nice...some fancy form and word play...i have a ra...nice...some fancy form and word play...i have a rather affinity for dragons as well...used to read a lot of fantasy novels back in the day...if not for the massacre (which would happen if they did, we would just to see what makes them tick like we do with anything new or that we do not understand) i would love to see them in the skies...Brian Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00722940075884718007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-930188128946500869.post-13210728083306334872011-06-30T20:57:36.295-04:002011-06-30T20:57:36.295-04:00yes... we are the dragon..... fly fly away in the ...yes... we are the dragon..... fly fly away in the weight of the world!
wonderful analogy!meaningful philosophy!! :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-930188128946500869.post-54181852600412138432011-06-30T19:54:20.973-04:002011-06-30T19:54:20.973-04:00Wow, love your poem. When I was younger that's all I used to write about actually. Have them all still, overstuffed folder upon folder in my closet. One day I'll get into them again. But anyhow, just had this thought today How bout we do a dragon poem today, and so I did.

Yeah I have to admit those last few sections are my particular pets of the piece. Love the word landscape so devouring with sound was just enough off the norm- definitely my favorite line.

Oh, and the massacre won't take place if the dragon doesn't come back:, if it keeps on flying it'll be fine:)

Thanks again for the visitAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05885047796180529498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-930188128946500869.post-66355692635444428432011-06-30T18:07:58.168-04:002011-06-30T18:07:58.168-04:00Very nicely done, once again great rhymes adding t...Very nicely done, once again great rhymes adding to the pace. Love the use of dragon myth/lore. Kind of a darker edge to it there at the end, a massacre I hope never begins.

Also like the way you played with words, "devour the landscape with your sound" really sticks out, as does many others. Great piece.Pat Hatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07745293224202430152noreply@blogger.com
